Introduction
pseudoephedrine 120 mg, guaifenesin 600 mg
Indications
- symptomatic relief of respiratory conditions with tenacious mucus plugs & congestion
- treatment of cold symptoms
- adjunctive therapy in serous otitis media
Contraindications
- severe hypertension
- concurrent administration MAO inhibitor
Dosage
- 10 mL every 4 hours (Robitussin PE)
- 5 mL/dose if 6-12 yo. 2.5 mL/dose if 2-5 yo.
- 1 tab PO BID (Entex PSE)
Adverse effects
- not common (1-10%)
- sympathomimetic effects (see pseudoephedrine)
