Introduction
Salicylate combination.
Indications
- osteoarthritis
- rheumatoid arthritis
- analgesic for mild to moderate pain
Contraindications
Caution:
- avoid use in patients with suspected varicella or influenza, especially in children; cases of Reye's syndrome have occurred
Dosage
Tabs: 500, 750, 1000 mg.
Liquid: 500 mg/5 mL

elimination: kidney
Adverse effects
- common (> 10%)
- less common (1-10%)
- uncommon (< 1%)
- insomnia, nervousness, 'jitters', occult bleeding, prolongation of bleeding time, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, hepatotoxicity, bronchospasm, iron-deficiency anemia, impaired renal function
Drug interactions
- may enhance hypothrombinemic effects of warfarin
- may increase methotrexate serum levels & toxicity
- drug interaction(s) of beta-adrenergic receptor antagonists with salicylate
- drug interaction(s) of salicylates with sulfonylureas
