• high prothrombin time & international normalized ratio (INR)
• deficiency in vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors
  • factor II, factor VII, factor IX, factor X

Mechanism of action

• high-potency vitamin K antagonist

Management

• fresh frozen plasma & vitamin K
  • several month of tapering vitamin K therapy may be needed
