- 1/2 of MIs in patients with HIV1 infection may not be associated coronary artery occlusion in the setting of unstable atherosclerotic plaque, but from mismatch between oxygen demand & supply due to severe hypotension due to sepsis or because of vasoconstriction with cocaine or other drug use[1]
