acropustulosis of infancy

Epidemiology

• occurs in young children during the first 2-3 years of life

Clinical manifestations

• recurrent, self-limited, pruritic, vesicopustular eruption of the palms & the soles

Management

• treatment is often unnecessary because of the self-limited nature of the disorder
• treatment of pruritus
  • topical pramoxine
  • oral antihistamines
• more difficult cases may justify more agressive therapy
  • topical steroids
  • oral dapsone
