Introduction
Value-based care seems a central concept in population health & population health is a central concept of health care.
Epidemiology
- health in the United States has improved from 1990 to 2016
- in 5 states, the probability of death between ages 20-55 years has increased > 10% from 1990-2016[6]
- Hawaii ranks first in life expectancy at birth (2016), with Mississippi last (81.3 vs 74.7 years)[6]
Management
- body-mass index, smoking, & fasting glucose are the most important mortality risks[6]
