Indications

• meningeal leukemia or lymphocytic lymphoma
• used as a diluent with intrathecal methotrexate &/or cytarabine

Dosage

• intrathecal administration

Mechanism of action

• comparable to cerebrospinal fluid in pH, electrolyte composition, glucose content, & osmolarity
• maintains the pH of methotrexate sodium & cytarabine closer to physiologic pH & provides a buffer capacity not found in other diluents
