Introduction
fistula connecting the stomach & the colon
Etiology
- gastric cancer
- colorectal cancer
- peptic ulcer (less common)
- use of glucocorticoids or NSAIDs increase risk[1]
Pathology
Clinical manifestations
- abdominal pain
- diarrhea
- weight loss
- foul eructation, fecal halitosis
- feculent vomiting
Radiology
Management
- surgival resection of the fistula tract[2]
- post-operative mortality as high as 25%[2]
- prognosis: < 10 years
