Interactions:
- increased incidence of depression in patients with diabetes mellitus
- the depression correlates with comorbid conditions, not with diabetes per se
- depression predicts increased incidence of adverse health outcomes in older Mexican Americans with type 2 diabetes
Management
- most antidepressants confer mortality benefit, including: SSRI, SNRI, NDRI, mirtazapine, TCA, & trazodone[2]
