Indications
- workup of coagulation disorder
Clinical significance
- routine prolonged PTT evaluation finds no explanation
- PTT is normal in the mixing study
- factor VIII, factor IX, factor XI, & factor XII are normal
- prothrombin time & plasma fibrinogen are normal
- lupus anticoagulant assays are negative
- if prekallikrein assays are normal, HMW kininogen assays may be considered
