Mechanism of action
- single strands of DNA that specifially bind to & degrade c-Jun messenger RNA
- when injected into nodular basal cell carcinoma, results in
- tumor cell apoptosis,
- inhibition of angiogenesis
- stimulation of adaptive immune responses
- increases the proapoptotic molecules caspase 3, caspase 8, caspase 9 & p53 in tumors
- decreases in the antiapoptotic protein Bcl-2 in tumors
- increases density of immune & inflammatory infiltrate in & around the tumor
