guaifenesin/phenylephrine/phenylpropanolamine (Entex)

Indications

• symptomatic relief of respiratory conditions with tenacious mucus plugs & congestion
  • sinusitis
  • pharyngitis
  • bronchitis
  • asthma

Contraindications

• severe hypertension
• concurrent administration MAO inhibitor

Dosage

• adults & children > 12 years of age:
  • 1 tab or 10 mL PO every 6 hours

Tabs:

• guaifenesin 200 mg phenylpropanolamine HCl 45 mg phenylephrine 5 mg

Adverse effects

• not common (1-10%)
  • sympathomimetic effects (see phenylpropanolamine, phenylephrine)

Drug interactions

• drug interaction(s) of acetaminophen in combination with phenylephrine
