Introduction
FDA approves OTC Nasocort 2013.
Indications
- treatment of hayfever & allergic rhinitis
Dosage
- start 2 sprays (110 ug) QD, max 4 sprays/day
Adverse effects
- irritation of nasal mucosa
- rarely nasal ulceration
Mechanism of action
- does NOT inhibit IgE synthesis or mast cell degranulation
- inhibits cytokine production, arachidonate metabolism, inflammation & mast cell proliferation
