Indications
- lymphadenopathy, fevers, night sweats, weight loss
- mastocytoma
- mast cell sarcoma
- histiocytic neoplasm
- diagnosis of lymphoma
- diagnosis of metastatic cancer
- staging of cancer
Procedure
- excisional lymph node biopsy
- resection of entire lymph node is needed with architecture preserved
- fine-needle aspiration not sufficient for diagnosis of lymphoma* ,
* needle aspiration sufficient for diagnosis of lung cancer according to ref[2]
* surgical biopsy preferable to core biopsy[2]
