epinephrine/pilocarpine (E-Pilo-x PxEx)

Indications

• treatment of glaucoma
• counter effects of cycloplegics

Dosage

1-2 drops up to 6 times/day Ophthalmic solution: epinephrine bitartrate 1% & pilocarpine HCl

• 1%: E-pilo-1, P1E1 (15 mL)
• 2%: E-pilo-2, P2E1 (15 mL)
• 3%: E-pilo-3, P3E1 (15 mL)
• 4%: E-pilo-4, P4E1 (15 mL)
• 5%: E-pilo-5, P5E1 (15 mL)
• 6%: E-pilo-6, P6E1 (15 mL)

Adverse effects

• not common (1-10%)
  • miosis, ciliary spasm, blurred vision, retinal detachment, stinging, lacrimation, itching, vitreous hemorrhage, headache, photophobia, acute iritis, hypersensitivity, tachycardia, salivation, hypertension
