Indications
- acute bronchial asthma
- reversible bronchospasm associated with chronic bronchitis &/or emphysema
Dosage
- adults: 15 mg/kg every 6 hours
Tablets: 200 mg, 400mg
Storage
store at controlled room temperature 20-25C (68-77F)
Adverse effects
- infrequent, relatively mild, rarely require reduction in dose or stopping medication
- GI: nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, hematemesis, diarrhea
- CNS: headache, irritability, restlessness, insomnia, hyperexcitability, agitation, muscle twitching, grand mal seizure
- Cardiovascular: palpitations, tachycardia, extrasystoles, flushing, hypotension, circulatory failure, ventricular arrhythmias
- Respiratory: tachypnea
- Renal: albuminuria, gross and microscopic hematuria, diuresis
- Other: hyperglycemia, SIADH
