Indications
- treatment of cough associated with common cold, influenza, bronchitis or sinusitis
Contraindications
- not effective in treatment of cough due to smoking or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- use of MAO inhibitor within 14 days
Dosage
- 6 mg/mL oral suspension
Adverse effects
- hypersensitivity
- palpitations, tachycardia, cardiac arrhythmia
- confusion
- hallucinations
- respiratory suppression
- nausea, vomiting
- dyspepsia
- dizziness
- drowsiness
- insomnia
- rash
Drug interactions
- carbetapentane can inhibit metabolism of MAO inhibitors
