- determines eligibility for maraviroc (Selzentry) therapy by determining variations in the HIV-1 envelope V3 loop by PCR[1]
- HIV1 tropism testing determines ability of HIV-1 isolate to infect & replicate in monocytes[3]
- indirectly measures ability of HIV1 to gain access to monocytes via chemokine receptor CCR5
