retinoic acid syndrome

Etiology

• systemic chemotherapy with all-trans retinoic acid

Clinical manifestations

• pulmonary infiltrates
• hypoxemia

Laboratory

• complete blood count (CBC)
  • leukocytosis (may occur)
• arterial blood gas vs pulse oxymetry: hypoxemia

Management

• dexamethasone
