Paired bone of the cranium, posterior to the maxilla

Function

• it enters into formation of the nasal cavity, the orbit & the hard palate

Articulation

• articulates with the maxilla, inferior nasal concha, sphenoid bone, ethmoid bone, vomer & the contralateral palatine bone.
