Introduction
Membrane which surrounds oocyte in developing & mature ovarian follicle [Graafian follicle].
Function
- it mediates species-specific sperm binding, induction of acrosome reaction & prevents post-fertilization polyspermy
Structure
- it is composed of 3-4 glycoproteins, ZP1, ZP2, ZP3, & ZP4*.
* ZP4 may act as a sperm receptor.
