Structure
- one of several nuclei between the fornix & the ventral surface of the corpus callosum, forming the medial wall of the frontal horn of the lateral ventricle
- it extends ventrally between the anterior commissure & the rostrum of the corpus callosum
- it is continuous caudally with the preoptic area & hypothalamus & laterally with the substantia innominata
- medial septal nucleus
- dorsal septal nucleus
- lateral septal nucleus
- septofimbrial nucleus
- triangular nucleus of the septum
