Structure
- on coronal section, located at the base of the septum pellucidum, bordered superiorly & laterally by the lateral ventricles, inferiorly & laterally by the nucleus accumbens, & inferiorly by the diagonal band of Broca.
Efferents
- the medial septal nucleus sends cholinergic projections via the fornix to the hippocampus & hypothalamus.
