Introduction
A thin plate of brain tissue situated between the column & body of the fornix below & the corpus callosum above & anteriorly.
It is generally fused with the contralateral septum pellucidum forming a median partition between the frontal horn of thelateral ventricles.
In 10% of individuals, fusion does not occur.
The septum pellucidum contains nerve cell bodies & numerous nerve fibers.
