Function
- secretes cerebrospinal fluid, thus regulates, in part, intraventricular pressure
- regulates nutrient, lipid & protein transport across the blood-CSF barrier[2]
Structure
- a vascular proliferation in the 3rd ventricle, 4th ventricle & lateral ventricles.
- consists of extracellular matrix that connects a dense vasculature to its epithelial cells
Pathology
- increased choroid plexus volume may be associated with inflammation pathology of Alzheimer's disease
