choroid plexus

Function

• secretes cerebrospinal fluid, thus regulates, in part, intraventricular pressure
• regulates nutrient, lipid & protein transport across the blood-CSF barrier

Structure

• a vascular proliferation in the 3rd ventricle, 4th ventricle & lateral ventricles.
• consists of extracellular matrix that connects a dense vasculature to its epithelial cells

Pathology

• increased choroid plexus volume may be associated with inflammation pathology of Alzheimer's disease
