Introduction
Tradenames: Norlutate, Aygestin, Micronor Progestin.
Indications
- amenorrhea or abnormal uterine bleeding due to hormonal imbalance
- endometriosis
- oral contraceptive (alone or in combination with estrogens)
Dosage
Tablets: (acetate, Norlutate) 5 mg. Oral Contraceptives:
- 0.35 mg QD for 28 days of cycle (28 days)
Tablets: (Micronor) 0.35 mg
Tablets: (acetate, Norlutate) 5 mg.
Adverse effects
- common (> 10%)
- less common (1-10%)
- edema, depression, fever, melasma, chloasma, allergic rash with or without pruritus, cholestatic jaundice,changes in cervical erosion & secretions, weight gain or loss, insomnia, breast tenderness
