• extracellular domain of unknown function
• found in 1 or 2 copies in mosaic extracellular or transmembrane proteins
• associated with regions of O-glycosylation
• associated regions of O-glycosylation
• glycosylation may stabilize SEA domains & protect them from proteolysis Length: about 120 amino acid residues Domain named after the 1st 3 proteins in which it was identified:
• Sperm protein (sea urchin)
• Enterokinase
• Agrin
