Function
- binds to the XRE promoter region of genes it activates
- activates expression of multiple phase I & II xenobiotic chemical metabolizing enzyme genes including CYP1A1 gene
- mediates biochemical & toxic effects of halogenated aromatic hydrocarbons
- role in cell-cycle regulation
- likely to play a role in the development & maturation of many tissues
