- cold nociception, activated by cold temperature below 17 degrees Celsius
- pain sensation triggered by mustard oil or capsaicin
- ionotropic cannabinoid receptor
- component for the mechanosensitive transduction channel of hair cells in inner ear (putative)
- uses phosphatidylinositol second messenger system (putative)
- inhibited by ruthenium red
