Function
- protein phosphatase
- inactivates multifunctional CaM kinases, including CAMK4 & CAMK2
- dephosphorylates & inactivates PAK
- role in inhibition of actin fiber stress breakdown & in morphological changes driven by TNK2/CDC42
- heterotrimer, interacts with PAX1 & ARHGEF6 (or ARHGEF7)
phosphoprotein + H2O <--> protein + phosphate
Cofactor: binds 2 Mg+2 or Mn+2 per subunit
Structure
Compartment
- nucleus, cytoplasm
- truncated form, major form, with C-terminal part missing, is mostly found in cytoplasm with less in nucleus
- full length, minor form, is found in nucleus
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=3
