Function
- interacts with upstream promoter region of oxytocin receptor gene
- transcriptional enhancer in up-regulation of oxytocin receptor gene at parturition
- lacks a putative transactivation domain, thus may behave as transcriptional repressor when it dimerizes with itself
- transcriptional activator via dimerizing with other bHLH proteins, recruits them to specific DNA-binding sites.
- role in cellular stress response (putative)
Structure
- monomer & homodimer or heterodimer
Compartment
Expression
- expressed in the term myometrium & kidney
- induced by oxidative stress
- belongs to the bZIP family, Maf subfamily
- contains 1 bZIP domain
