Function
- essential for mitochondrial protein biogenesis, together with CPN60
- binds to CPN60 in the presence of Mg-ATP & suppresses ATPase activity of CPN60
- chaperonin-10 complexes with chaperonin-60 & with hsp 70 in the TCP1 ring complex
- inhibits Toll-like receptors
Structure
- homohexamer
- belongs to the groES chaperonin family
Compartment
Expression
induced by stress
Comparative biology
- homologous to groES (in prokaryotes)
