Function
- role in deamination of adenosine-34 to inosine in many tRNAs
- phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR
Structure
- belongs to the cytidine & deoxycytidylate deaminase family, ADAT2 subfamily
- in contrast to other cytidine & deoxycytidylate deaminase family members, lacks conserved Glu-255 active site, replaced by a Val-225, thus may function as enzyme regulatory subunit
