Function
- deubiquitinating enzyme, ubiquitin-protein or polyubiquitin hydrolase (putative)
- functions at the endosome, apposes ubiquitin-dependent sorting of receptors to lysosomes
- role in signal transduction for cell growth & MYC induction mediated by IL-2 & GM-CSF
- potentiates BMP (bone morphogenetic protein) signaling by antagonizing the inhibitory action of SMAD6 & SMAD7
- inhibited by N-ethylmaleimide
- interacts with STAM1, SMAD6, SMAD7
- phosphorylated after BMP type 1 receptor activation
ubiquitin C-terminal thioester + H2O <--> ubiquitin + thiol
Structure
- binds 1 Zn+2 per subunit
- belongs to the peptidase M67C family
- contains 1 MPN domain (JAB/Mov34 domain)
Compartment
nucleus, peripheral membrane, cytoplasm
Expression
ubiquitously expressed
