Function
- subcellular trafficking between endoplasmic reticulum & Golgi via Rho-type GTPases
- binds to MLF1, recruiting a serine kinase which phosphorylates both NRBP & MLF1, thus preventing binding of MLF1 to YWHAZ
- phosphorylated MLF1 binds to YWHAZ & is retained in the cytoplasm (putative)
Structure
- homodimer
- belongs to the protein kinase superfamily, Ser/Thr protein kinase family
- contains 1 protein kinase domain predicted to be catalytically inactive
Compartment
- cytoplasm, endomembrane system, cell projection, lamellipodium
- co-localizes with activated RAC3 to endomembranes & in lamellipodia
Expression
- ubiquitously expressed, high levels in the testis
Pathology
- binding to the NS3 protein of dengue virus type 2 subverts activity into alteration of intracellular membrane structure associated with flaviviral replication
