Function

• inhibits signal transduction by increasing GTPase activity of G-alpha subunits increasing the amount of inactive GDP-bound form
• binds to G-alpha subfamily 1members, with the order Gi-alpha-3 > Gi-alpha-1 > Go-alpha >> Gz-alpha/Gi-alpha-2
• activity on Gz-alpha is inhibited by phosphorylation & palmitoylation of the G-protein
• fatty acylated
• heavily palmitoylated in the cysteine string motif
• phosphorylated, mainly Ser
• interacts with GIPC PDZ domain
