Function
- may be involved in reorganization of cortical cytoskeleton
- regulates axon formation by promoting the formation of extra axons
- may be functionally important for the intracellular trafficking of MAGUKs & associated protein complexes
- binds to DLG1 & DLG4
- phosphorylated at Ser-1381 & Ser-1410 by MARK2, promoting interaction with 14-3-3 & inhibiting microtubule-dependent accumulation & formation of axons
- phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR
Structure
- belongs to the kinesin-like protein family
- contains 1 CAP-gly domain
- contains 1 FHA domain
- contains 1 kinesin-motor domain
Compartment
- cytoplasm, cytoskeleton
- cell projection, axon
- accumulates at the distal part of the microtubules in the tips of axons
- does not accumulate in dendrites
