Function
- RNA processing activity that hydrolyzes the 2'-5' phosphodiester linkage at the branchpoint of excised intron lariats (after splicing)
- converts them into linear molecules that are subsequently degraded
- facilitates ribonucleotide turnover
Cofactor: divalent metal cations
Kinetic parameters: Optimum pH is7.0
Compartment
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=2
Pathology
- retrovirus replication via a RNA lariat intermediate in cDNA synthesis
- cells lacking DBR1 show an inhibition of HIV-1 replication
