Function
- regulates Tat transactivation activity through direct interaction
Structure
- contains 8 HAT repeats
- contains 2 RRM domains (RNA recognition motif)
Compartment
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=3
Expression
- ubiquitously expressed
- expressed in the cytoplasm of all proliferating cells
Pathology
- interacts with HIV-1 Tat protein
- cellular factor for HIV-1 gene expression & viral replication (putative)
- expressed in the nucleus of malignant tumor cell lines & majority of cancer tissues with various histologies, including squamous cell carcinomas (SCC), adenocarcinomas, melanomas & leukemias
- undetectable in the nucleus of any cell lines of nonmalignant cells or normal tissues, except for testis
- also expressed in cytoplasm of malignant cells
