- may mediate membrane association by binding to anchoring proteins
- interacts with AKAP4 & CBFA2T3
- phosphorylated by the activated catalytic chain
Structure
- belongs to the cAMP-dependent kinase regulatory chain family
- contains 2 cyclic nucleotide-binding domains
Expression
- four types of regulatory chains are found: I-alpha, I-beta, II-alpha, & II-beta
- their expression varies among tissues & is in some cases constitutive & in others inducible
