Function
- chemotactic for lymphocytes & monocytes
- not chemotactic for neutrophils
- potent myelosuppressive activity
- suppresses proliferation of myeloid progenitor cells
- recombinant SCYA16
- chemotactic activity for monocytes & THP-1 monocytes,
- not chemotactic for resting lymphocytes or neutrophils
- induces a Ca+2 flux in THP-1 cells that are desensitized by prior expression to RANTES
Structure
Compartment
Expression
- mainly expressed in liver
- also found in spleen & thymus
- highly expressed in LPS- & IFN-gamma-activated monocytes
- weakly expressed in some lymphocytes, including NK cells, gamma-delta T-cells, & some T-cell clones
- induced by IL-10
