Function
- neuronal cell surface protein
- thought to be involved in cell-cell-interactions by forming intercellular junctions through binding to beta-neurexins
- seems to play role in formation or maintenance of synaptic junctions
- in vitro, triggers the de novo formation of presynaptic structures
- may be involved in specification of excitatory synapses
- interacts with neurexin 1-beta, neurexin 2-beta & neurexin 3-beta
- interacts through its C-terminus with DLG4/PSD-95 3rd PDZ domain
- interacts with AIP1 & PDZRN3 (putative)
Structure
- belongs to the type-B carboxylesterase/lipase family
Compartment
- cell membrane; single-pass type 1 membrane protein (putative)
- cell junction, synapse
- postsynaptic membrane, postsynaptic density (putative)
- enriched in synaptic membranes & clustered in synaptic clefts & postsynaptic densities (putative)
