Function
- receptor for relaxins
- activity is mediated by Gs proteins leading to stimulation of adenylate cyclase & an increase of cAMP
- binding of the ligand may also activate a tyrosine kinase pathway that inhibits activity of a phosphodiesterase that degrades cAMP
Structure
- belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family
- contains 1 LDL-receptor class A domain
- contains 10 LRR repeats (leucine-rich repeats)
Compartment
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=4
Expression
- expressed in the brain, kidney, testis, placenta, uterus, ovary, adrenal, prostate, skin & heart
- not detected in spleen
