Function

Structure

  • a flattened, roughly triangular gland lying adjacent to the superior surface of the kidney
  • it is attached primarily to the crura of the diaphragm.

Arterial supply

  • rich arterial supply, in contrast to its limited venous drainage, which is critically dependent on a single vein
