Function
- nuclear factor
- forms MORC3-nuclear bodies via an ATP-dependent mechanism
- sumoylated MORC3-nuclear bodies can also associate with PML-nuclear bodies
- recruits TP53 & SP100 to PML-nuclear bodies, thus regulating TP53 activity
- binds RNA in vitro[8]
- sumoylation is involved in interaction with PML & localization to PML nuclear bodies
- interacts with PML (via SUMO-interacting motif)[2][5]
- interacts with PT53[2]
Structure
- homodimer . the sumoylated form
- contains 1 CW-type zinc finger
Compartment
nucleus, nucleoplasm, nucleus matrix
Expression
- expressed in heart, placenta, skeletal muscle, brain, pancreas, lung, liver
- not expressed in kidney
Pathology
- may be required for influenza A transcription during viral infection
- interacts with influenza A virus PA & PB1 polymerase subunits during infection
- autoautibodies (Mj Ab) in polymyositis/dermatomyositis[9]
