• 3'- to 5' exonucleolease activity degrades ssDNA
• required with its accessory proteins PCNA & RFC for leading strand synthesis
• also involved in completing Okazaki fragments initiated by the DNA polymerase alpha/primase complex
• interacts with WRNIP1
