- receptor for cholecystokinin
- mediates pancreatic growth & enzyme secretion
- mediates smooth muscle contraction of the gall bladder & stomach
- affinity 1000-fold higher for CCK than for gastrin
- modulates feeding & dopamine-induced behavior in the central nervous system & peripheral nervous system
- mediates its action via G proteins that activate a phosphatidylinositol-Ca+2 second messenger system
