- catalyzes sulfation of xenobiotics, hormones, & neurotransmitters. displays
- activity towards L-triiodothyronine, thyroxine, estrone, p-nitrophenol, 2-naphtylamine, & 2-naphtol
- may have a role in sulfation of drugs & neurotransmitters in the CNS

- adult
- expressed in brain, cerebellum & hypothalamus, but not in other tissues, including: pancreas, liver, lung, heart, intestine, spleen, kidney, uterus, adrenal, thymus, epididymis
- fetus
- highly expressed in fetal brain & occipital lobe
- less expression in the whole brain, frontal lobe, hippocampus, & lung
- very low expression in cerebellum, medulla oblongata, temporal lobe, testis, kidney & appendix
