Function
- DNA-dependent ATPase & 5' to 3' DNA helicase
- ATPase activity is stimulated by single-stranded DNA
- presence of ATP & Mg cofactor are required for helicase activity allowing to unwind duplex oligonucleotides up to 60-70-mer
- helicase activity is stimulated by replication protein RPA that binds to unwound regions & inhibits re-annealing
Structure
- hexamer
- belongs to the helicase family. SKI2 subfamily
- contains 1 helicase ATP-binding domain
- contains 1 helicase C-terminal domain
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=5
