Function
- one of 5 dopamine receptors
- activity is mediated by G proteins which activate adenylyl cyclase (Gs protein)
- 10 fold > affinity for dopamine than dopamine D1 receptor.
Structure
belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family
Compartment
cell membrane; multi-pass membrane protein
Expression
Pathology
- defects in DRD5 may be a cause of schizophrenia, but no proof has yet been found
- defects in DRD5 are a cause of blepharospasm
